Traditional Acne Treatments Can Have Serious Side Effects
Most of the traditional acne treatments suggested by mainstream dermatologists (like Accutane) are getting taken off the market due to ineffective results and horrible side effects such as depression, teen suicide, dry skin and inflammatory bowel disease. Why would you use something that will cause birth defects if pregnant?
Another common ingredient in acne treatments is benzoyl peroxide which can cause the following side effects:
- severe itching or burning;
- severe stinging or redness;
- swelling; or.
Most skincare you find at big box stores (unless, they’re clean beauty) or suggested by dermatologists are packed with petrochemicals and other potentially harmful synthetic ingredients.
Your Dermatologist Visit Might Cost You More Than You Think
A recent paper from the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology website (which was later removed swiftly due to industry pressure) examined the growing trend in dermatology of private equity taking over clinics, and found that clinics backed by private equity are more likely to do an excessive amount of well-reimbursed procedures or prescribe more expensive medications.
The removed study also suggested that private firms recruit dermatology leaders to work for and promote this commercialization, a claim to which industry leaders unsurprisingly objected. The prices of dermatology treatments have skyrocketed over the past decade. The retail prices of brand-name drugs increased 400% on average from 2009 to 2015, and prices of generic drugs doubled between 2011 and 2014, on average.
The truth is that there are much more affordable options that will work just as well without a trip to an expensive dermatologist.
Better Options Available
The number one plus point of natural skincare is that it isn’t a bunch of chemicals and ingredients you’ve never heard of. They’re made from products that can be found in nature (ie Tea Tree Oil). Which could mean you’re using products that people have incorporated in their beauty routine for generations.
A year or decade from now, they’ll still be healthier for your skin. Whereas, chemical products can cause long term damage or need to be upgraded to stronger products in the future.
Tea Tree Oil = Powerful Natural Acne Fighting and Antiviral Properties. Our Tea Tree Oil is carefully obtained by a thorough and extensive steam distillation of the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant. High quality tea tree oil is used as a central, natural disinfectant that powerfully yet gently tackles whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and other blemishes.
Another benefit is that, tea tree oil has antiviral properties that have proven to be effective against common pathogens. A 2001 study found that a combination of tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil worked effectively against viruses and a 2013 study found that tea tree oil could prevent the spread of influenza. While tests have not yet been conducted on tea tree oil’s effectiveness against the new virus, it’s certainly a possibility.
UPDATE: We are finally back in stock! We know many of you have been waiting for our popular Tea Tree Oil Acne Face Wash and Tea Tree Oil Acne Cream which are now finally taking orders again.
That being said we do not recommend using our tea tree oil products as hand sanitizers. Hand sanitizers are best used when you don't have access to tried and true hand washing and it's best to use hand sanitizers with more that 60% alcohol(we do not use 60% alcohol). And even hand sanitizers containing 60% alcohol can’t remove all types of germs. Studies have found that hand washing is more effective than hand sanitizers.
Tea tree oil IS an effective antimicrobial. It has been used for centuries to clean wounds, kill acne causing bacteria and prevent infections.
