Causes of acne

There can be a number of causes due to which acne breakouts can occur and your skin can get affected. In order to get rid of the acne breakouts, it’s mandatory to figure out the cause of acne so that relevant treatment can be applied on the skin and have better-looking skin. The most common causes of acne are listed below:

Hormonal changes in body

The common acne which is also medically termed as acne vulgaris is caused due to the hormonal changes occurring inside human bodies generally during the teenage puberty years. Acne is directly associated with the rising levels of androgen hormones in our bodies. When puberty occurs the androgen level naturally raises causing acne breakouts. The increase in androgen results in increased sebum production which as a result causes acne problems. In order to avoid this problem, you must consume a healthy diet and adopt natural remedies for curing acne breakouts.

Another commonly occurring cause of acne is stress. Anyone can experience stress in their lives whether they are professionals or stay at home people or related to any other walk of life. When a person is feeling stressful the adrenal gland present in your body starts producing a stress hormone known as cortisol which is responsible for dealing with stress. While the body produces this hormone a small amount of testosterone also leaks out along with it which cause more oil production and result in acne breakouts.

Stress can also enhance the appearance of acne as stress causes the capillaries to expand and increase blood flow causing redness and inflammation. If you suffer from stress issues it can also become responsible for elongating the tenure of your acne breakouts. So in order to avoid these acne breakouts, you must stay happy and avoid negative thoughts as for a productive and successful life a healthy mind is also of great importance. A regular exercise and enough sleeping hours during the night can also have a very positive impact on your acne problems and help you get better skin. There are also numerous stress control methods which can help your mind to become active, fresh and positively influenced.

Some people may also have an acne prone skin due to genetic factors causing them to suffer from acne breakouts more often as compared to others. According to studies conducted it has been observed that if you have a first-degree relative who suffers from frequent acne breakouts and skin problems then you might face a risk of suffering from these issues four times more than a normal person.

People who are prone to acne issues due to genetic factors become more immune to extra sebum production and clogging of pores. Such people have a very strong response to skin irritants, inflammatory components and harmful bacteria. In addition to genetic your daily habits and culture also contributes towards causing acne problems.

Acne breakouts can also be caused due to dust and pollution existing in the environment. When you go outside the dust particles and other similar pollutants in the surroundings can form a layer on your skin causing acne problems. In order to avoid this, you must wear sunscreen and wipe your face clean using a toner first thing when you come back home.

Sweat during gym hours

Sometimes your workout routine can also have a negative impact on your skin and even cause acne breakouts if healthy hygiene is not maintained. The most common cause is the dirty work out equipment. Whether you are using an exercise machine, a yoga mat, weights or any other fitness equipment it’s filled up with dirt and bacteria as a number of people are interacting with this stuff and when your skin comes in contact with these things inflammation can be caused.

A workout routine can also make you sweat a lot and if you wear makeup during your gym hours then it can cause your skin pores to get blocked and the sweat cannot come out causing acne. Wearing tight fitting clothes can also have the same impact on your skin due to the sweat produced during a workout routine. In order to avoid this, you must avoid wearing any makeup during a workout and try to wear clothes which are loose fitting. Also, take a shower immediately after a workout session so that acne breakouts can be prevented.

There are certain medications which can have a very bad impact on your skin making it prone to acne breakouts. These medications include the following:

  • Tuberculosis
  • Post-transplant

Unhealthy diet

Some foods are also responsible for causing acne problems which include chocolates, fried foods, pizza, caffeine, nuts, dairy products, etc.

A healthy diet containing leafy green vegetables and fruits is very important for your body as well as skin to stay healthy and active. Iodine contains foods are also known to cause acne breakouts if you eat enough amounts of it and it takes quite a long time to build up inside the body before causing acne breakouts on your skin.
