Start using tea tree oil as soon as you start feeling run-down. Experts say that there is a very narrow window during which you can head off a cold before it starts. At the first sign of a cold, turn on your diffuse. Scenting a room with the right essences can alleviate the symptoms of a cold or the flu.


The Basics

  • Immune System: Stimulating the immune system, you can use a diffuser to disperse tea tree aroma throughout the air. Use this method on a regular basis. Massaging into your soles of the feet will increase your immunity.
  • Inflammation: Massage tea tree oil over and around the area of inflammation. Gently and always rub towards the circulation of the heart. Diffusing and inhaling the tea tree oil directly or indirectly is soothing for any type of inflammation.
  • Allergies: Using tea tree topically, massage into the chest or abdominal area. The tender reflex spots of the feet bring relief to symptoms that irritate your system and cause allergic responses.
  • Bacterial Infections: Using topically, massage tea tree oil into the reflex spots of the feet. Add several drops to a spa bath or carefully apply over an infection area. Healing is promoted and pain alleviated.
  • Asthma: Add a few drops of tea tree oil to water and heat. When cooling, drape a towel over your head and breath in for a few.

 

Lung Remedies

  • Asthma: Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a pan of water and heat to steam. While cooling, draping a towel over your head and breathing in for a few minutes, will alleviate inflammation and open bronchial airways.
  • Bronchial Congestion: Use as instructed for Asthma. Add 5 – 10 drops tea tree oil to 1 ounce of carrier oil, and massage into the chest region and throat. Repeat 2 – 3 times during the day.
  • Emphysema: Use as directed for the relief of bronchial infections. For a vaporizer, add 10 drops tea tree oil to steam and leave on 5 – 10 minutes.

 

Throat Remedies

  • Sore Throat: Adding 2 drops of tea tree oil to 1 cup of warm water with a pinch of sea salt to gargle with, repeat 2-3 times a day. Do not swallow!
  • Laryngitis: Add 5 – 10 drops of tea tree oil and a pinch of sea salt. Try adding to 1 cup of warm water, then gargle 2-3 times a day. Do not swallow!
  • Staph Infection: The best is to use tea tree oil topically. Try rubbing into the soles of your feet to increase the immunity and fight infection.
  • Tonsillitis: Inhale from steam water with tea tree oil, gargle, then massage into neck are and soles of your feet.

 

Ear Remedies

  • Earache and Infection: Add 2 – 3 drops of tea tree oil to 2 tbsp warm virgin olive oil. Drop a small amount into the aching ear, tilting head to one side for a minute or 2. Use a cotton swab to absorb excess oil. Repeating 2 – 3 times daily.

Tea tree oil is a powerful healing oil that can be used in many instances including a cold/flu. Use these remedies the next time you feel a cold approaching.
