Methods to use tea tree oil to prevent acne

Tea tree oil is widely acknowledged for treating acne problems and making your skin look good. The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components contained in this essential oil have amazing effects on your skin and you can get rid of your acne problems by applying this essential oil. The methods in which tea tree oil can be used to treat acne and get best results are mentioned below:

  • Use plain tea tree oil: The most common and easy way to use tea tree oil in order to get acne free skin is using tea tree oil in raw form. You can use this essential oil by adding a few drops of it to a cotton pad and apply it on the acne affected areas of your skin. Applying this oil will result in reducing swelling, inflammation and redness of the acne affected areas and it can also help in killing acne-causing harmful bacteria in addition to drying up the pimples.

Method of preparation and usage: Pour a few drops of tea tree oil on a cotton ball or a cotton swab. Then dab the oil on the acne affected areas of the skin only and leave it on for 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Wash your face using warm water and after that and pat it dry.

Repeat this process every other day in order to treat your acne problems successfully and you must mix it with water and apply it in diluted form for sensitive skin.

Precautions: The tea tree oil is a strong and volatile oil and it can cause irritation and itching to sensitive skin type so in order to avoid this hazard you must use it in diluted form. In order to ensure that it does not harm your skin, you must perform a patch test before applying it on the whole face and wait for 24 hours before full application.

  • Tea tree oil and aloe vera gel: Tea tree oil face mask is very effective for treating acne-prone skin and make it better looking. Aloe vera gel is also known for its remarkable action against acne and pimples of all types. In order to prepare this face mask, the following ingredients are needed.

Three to four drops of tea tree essential oil

Two teaspoons of aloe vera gel

Method of preparation and usage: Take a small bowl and add 2 teaspoons of fresh aloe vera gel and add 3 to 4 drops of pure tea tree oil to it. Then mix these ingredients well using a brush and apply this mixture on your face using the same brush. Keep it on your face for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash it using warm water. Gently pat your skin dry using a soft towel.

Apply this mask twice or thrice every week in order to get the best results.

  • Tea tree oil and clay face mask: The face mask containing natural earth clay and tea tree oil is ideal for treating acne problems no matter what skin type you have. It is also responsible for absorbing the excess oil from your skin and the honey content added into this mixture results in moisturizing and nourishing your skin and make it fresh and acne free. The preparation of this mask involves the following ingredients :
  • 3 to 5 drops of tea tree essential oil

    1 tablespoon of natural clay

    1 teaspoon of organic honey

    Method of preparation and usage: Take a bowl and add 1 teaspoon of clay, organic honey and 3 to 5 drops of tea tree oil to it. Mix all the ingredients using a spatula and then apply it on your face in the form of a mask. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then wash your face thoroughly until all the mixture is removed. Pat the skin dry using a soft towel afterwards.

    In order to achieve maximum benefit, you need to apply this mask two to three times every week.

    • Tea tree oil and apple cider vinegar: The apple cider vinegar is also famous for its acne fighting properties and when mixed up with tea tree oil it can result in making a light toner which can prove to be very helpful in fighting acne and removing acne scars. The ingredients for this face toner include the following:

    3 to 5 drops of tea tree essential oil

    ¼ cup of raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar

    Water in a spray bottle

    Method of preparation and usage: Add apple cider vinegar to the spray bottle filled with water and add a few drops of tea tree oil to it as well. Shake the bottle well so that all the ingredients mix together and then spray it on the acne affected areas of your skin. Applying this mixture will result in tightening of your skin pores and reduce the overproduction of sebum.

    • Tea tree oil and olive oil face scrub:

    Sugar is a really good ingredient for exfoliating your skin and the olive oil nourishes it and helps in avoiding harmful effects of acne. The ingredients required for the preparation of this face scrub include the following:

    3 to 4 drops of tea tree oil

    1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil

    ¼ cup of sugar

    Method of preparation and usage: Take a bowl and add sugar, olive oil and tea tree oil to it. Mix it well and scrub the mixture gently on your acne prone skin in circular motions. Rinse it off with water and pat it dry.

    Use it for 2 to 3 times every week. You can also store the remaining scrub in a refrigerator for a week.
