Benefits of Coconut Oil, Tea Tree Oil & Argan Oil in Your Body Wash

Modern chemistry has been kind to us in many ways. One example is that chemists have been able to put together a composition which allows us to remove soap from our shower racks for good. Yes, I'm talking about something so spectacular that it makes showering with soap a thing of the past.

Body washes are another step forward in the world of moisturized, cleaner and softer skin. What a beautiful world to live in, right? The promise of better skin is the main reason people choose to replace soaps with body washes when showering. A body wash lathers just as much as soap – and even more – but it is specifically formulated for your skin type, whereas finding a soap which is specifically adjusted to your skin type can be a bit of a hassle. Not many manufacturers make soaps especially for people with dry, oily or sensitive skin. Even if a soap made specifically for your skin exists, the odds of finding it at your local drugstore are extremely low.

The thing with body washes is that the manufacturers start from scratch when developing them, which gives them more flexibility to make products for various skin types. For example, they take into account the fact that one in ten people have dry skin or acne, and then they make a product respond to that need.

Each body wash is composed of a number of different oils and extracts that differentiate it from other body washes. Here are three of these oils and their benefits:

Coconut Oil

Besides being quite affordable, coconut oil is one of the most recommended oils for people with dry skin. Coconut oil can do wonders for your face and body. As an added bonus, it smells heavenly! If your body wash contains coconut oil then you, my friend, have an excellent moisturizing wash. The oil is both antibacterial and antifungal, so it speeds healing when applied to wounds. Coconut oil contains three fatty acids – capric, caprylic and lauric acid – that possess disinfectant and antimicrobial properties, helping to protect against as well as heal bacterial infections. Coconut oil is becoming increasingly popular for treating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

You can also use it as an effective makeup remover, insect repellent or stretch mark fader. The ways in which coconut oil can benefit your skin are numerous, especially if you have dry skin, in which case I would recommend using a body wash with coconut oil as your first choice.

Tea Tree Oil

Formerly obscure tea tree oil is now becoming a common household item. It comes from Australia, where the aboriginal inhabitants used oil from over 300 species of tea tree for treating wounds. Today, you don’t have to live in Australia to experience the amazing benefits of tea tree oil – just go to any health store near you. If you have acne on your face and/or body, then you should go for a body wash which contains tea tree oil. The oil can do wonders for your skin and can completely eliminate acne for good! They don’t call it ‘medicine in a bottle’ for nothing. Besides acne prone individuals, tea tree oil is effective for people with dry skin and people who suffer from athlete’s foot. The oil leaves you smelling good after every shower, but what’s more impressive is that if you suffer from body odour, tea tree oil can help eliminate that for good too. One study found tea tree oil to be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide but without the negative side effects like redness and peeling. One more reason it’s called ‘medicine in a bottle’ – tea tree oil can be useful for people with wounds or skin infections due to its antimicrobial properties.

Argan Oil

For centuries, Moroccan tribes have been on the lookout for nuts of the argan tree so that they can extract one of the most beneficial oils on the planet: argan oil. Argan oil is the priciest, yet also the best natural oil on this list for people of any skin type! Moroccan tribes didn't want the oil for its exfoliating properties; they wanted it because argan oil is known to help heal even the severest of cuts and burns. People today, however, want it to exfoliate themselves. In a nutshell, coconut oil is for dry skin and tea tree oil is for acne prone skin. That covers the most common skin problems, and those oils are cheaper, so why bother with argan oil? Simple: anti-ageing miracles. Argan oil can be your best friend if you think it isn’t time for wrinkles yet. Argan oil is often referred to as liquid gold, and rightfully so. The oil is packed with nutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin E, and fatty acids. Argan oil won’t clog pores, so you can be assured of a completely clean wash. It can hydrate the driest of skin and exfoliate the oiliest of skin. The only downside to using argan oil is that it does do a number on your wallet.

Body washes are here to stay. If you don’t have one yet, I suggest you choose one that’s good for your skin type and then go out and buy it. Use it every day for a week after every shower and the results will be crystal clear.
